Travis Dorsch

Alpine Program Director and Head Coach

A native of Bozeman, Montana, Travis has served as Director of Beaver Mountain Ski Team since 2020. A passionate advocate for youth sport, he has contributed to the team in multiple roles, including as a volunteer coach (2020-22), YSL Coach (2022-23), and South Series Coach (2023-present). Travis holds a U.S. Ski & Snowboard Level 200 coaching certification and is a Level 100 certified official. Beyond the slopes, Travis is a Professor of Human Development and Family Studies at Utah State University, where he is also the Founding Director of the Families in Sport Lab. Trained in kinesiology with a specialization in sport and exercise psychology, Travis’ research explores the people and environments that shape youth sport experiences. His research has been supported by leading national organizations, including the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee, the NCAA, and the Aspen Institute. Travis is a former national science board member for the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, & Nutrition, and is a research fellow for the U.S. Center for Mental Health & Sport. Travis and his wife Bree are proud ski parents to Josie (11) and Bridger (9), both active members of the Beaver Mountain Ski Team.

Josey Batura

Assistant Coach

A native of Seattle, Washington, Josey has served as an assistant coach for Beaver Mountain Ski Team since the 2023–24 season. Josey grew up with a love for winter sports, spending much of her youth on the slopes of Crystal Mountain, Alpental, and Whistler. That early passion for snow translated into a career dedicated to growing the sport and the young athletes who participate. Josey earned a bachelor’s degree in Community Health from Montana State University, where Bridger Bowl became a home mountain and Big Sky offered occasional big mountain adventures. Currently, Josey is pursuing a doctorate in Human Development and Family Studies at Utah State University. Josey holds a U.S. Ski & Snowboard Level 100 coaching certification and is working toward Level 200 licensure. On the hill, Josey blends technical expertise with a commitment to fostering confidence, resilience, and teamwork. Her coaching philosophy emphasizes not only skill development but also helping athletes build a lasting love for the sport and the community around it.

Jurgen Cox

Assistant Coach

A native of Park City, Utah, Jurgen is in his second season as an assistant coach for Beaver Mountain Ski Team. Starting skiing at less than two years old, Jurgen is passionate about being on snow. He raced for 10 years and competed in freeride for two years, both for Park City Ski & Snowboard. Jurgen has also skied every single month since October 2010, the month after he turned 4 years old. Jurgen is in his third year pursuing an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering with an Aerospace Emphasis. When he is not skiing, you can find Jurgen racing downhill for the Utah State University Cycling Club. Jurgen is an outdoor enthusiast in all seasons, having summited 10 state high points, almost every county high point in Utah, and frequenting 30+ mile mountain bike rides. Jurgen loves to share his appreciation for skiing with racers at the Beav!

Austin Granger

Assistant Coach

A native of Denver, Colorado, Austin grew up ski racing for Team Breck in Breckenridge, Colorado. He raced at the USSA and FIS levels during high school and then raced collegiately at Colorado School of Mines. Austin is in his second season coaching with Beaver Mountain Ski Team and is excited to bring his passion for ski racing to a new generation of athletes. Austin and his wife Jessica have two boys, Jackson (4 years) and William (1 year). In his spare time, Austin is a volunteer firefighter/EMT for the Central Box Elder Fire District. He also enjoys hiking, hunting, and running.

Harrison Kleiner

Assistant Coach

A native of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Harrison has served as president of the Beaver Mountain Ski Team Governing Board since 2021, as an Assistant Coach in 2023-24, as the head U16 coach in 2024-25, and again as an Assistant Coach in 2025-26. Harrison ski raced for 13 years growing up in Colorado, and is now a U.S. Ski & Snowboard Level 100 certified coach. Off the hill, Harrison is the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education at Utah State University and is a Professor of Philosophy with specialization in the history of philosophy. Harrison has lived in Logan for 22 years and is, with his wife Amy, the proud parent of four daughters, two of whom are Beaver Mountain Ski Team alumnae.

Amanda Thomson-Maughan

Assistant Coach

A native of Rexburg, Idaho, Amanda has been affiliated with the Beaver Mountain Ski Team for ten seasons. Amanda spent eight years as a PSIA Level 1 certified ski instructor and recently earned her US Ski & Snowboard Level 100 coaching certification. The 2026-27 season will be her fourth year as a an assistant coach with Beaver Mountain Ski Team. Amanda’s passion for alpine ski racing runs four generations deep in her family. Her own journey began with ski racing at the age of five and through her childhood. Her four boys, ages 14-22, are all Beaver Mountain Ski Team alumni and discovered their own passions for the sport through opportunities offered by the team. At her childhood mountain, the ski team building had a mural that declared “Ski Racing, a great way to grow up!” Amanda proudly affirms this statement and finds great joy and fulfillment in being a part of that journey for athletes on the Beaver Mountain Ski Team.

Dakota Meissner

Parent Volunteer

A resident of Paris, Idaho, Dakota has been a parent volunteer with the Beaver Mountain Ski Team since his children joined in 2022. Originally from the mountains of western North Carolina, Dakota began skiing at age five and spent much of his youth at Cataloochee Ski Area. After a decade of snowboarding, he returned to skiing when his family moved west in 2014. Though not from a racing background, Dakota’s experience spans park and all-mountain skiing, and he frequently assists Beaver Mountain Ski Team athletes during off piste training days and at races. Beyond the slopes, Dakota is the owner of Meissner Design LLC, a residential design firm based in Bear Lake. A self-taught designer, he has completed more than 350 design projects locally and across the country. Dakota and his wife, Khristina, are proud parents to Katelynn (12), Luke (9), and Audrey (7), all active members of the Beaver Mountain Ski Team. Outside of skiing, the Meissner family spends summers in the rodeo arena and on the baseball diamond.
